In reality adenosine is just a signal to your body that it should dilate blood vessels and slow down activity in the brain.  Adenosine is produced in higher quantities the longer an organism is awake which means you get sleepier as the day gets longer.  The cell however is a wearing bifocals and when you get right up close to it it can’t tell adenosine from caffeine so it lets caffeine on in, caffeine then likes to think of itself as a bouncer and lets adenosine know that it can find another cell to pester.  Caffeine doesn’t slow down the cells when it enters in fact it speeds it up… and now you know, who says comics can’t teach :)

Have a great Monday
